MOT Annual Training and assessment are requirements for authorised MOT testers, helping testers keep their knowledge up to date and maintain the standards required by DVSA.
At Pro-Tech, we deliver annual training and assessment for Classes 1 & 2 and Classes 4 & 7, covering the current DVSA syllabus and helping testers understand how changes to MOT requirements apply in practice.

Eligibility Requirements
To enrol on this DVSA-approved qualification, you must meet the following criteria:

MOT Tester Status
You must be a currently authorised MOT tester (for any vehicle class: 1, 2, 4, 5, or 7) -
Annual Requirement
DVSA requires that you complete your annual training and pass the online assessment by 31 March each year -
Assessment Completion
You must pass the DVSA MOT Annual Assessment (multiple choice, topic-based) to continue testing
Your training must cover the DVSA’s specified topics for the current year -
Lapsed Testers
If you miss the deadline, you may need to complete a demonstration test at a DVSA-approved site before returning to testing - This course is essential to maintain your MOT tester status and protect your ability to work legally and confidently in your role.

Our MOT Annual Training covers the current DVSA syllabus for the relevant training year, helping testers keep their knowledge up to date and understand changes affecting MOT testing.
The content changes each year in line with the topics set by DVSA and is designed to refresh your knowledge, highlight important changes and help you apply the latest MOT requirements confidently in your day-to-day testing.
Your training includes:
- The current DVSA annual training syllabus

- Preparation for the MOT Annual Assessment
- Online MOT Annual Assessment
Assessment:
Online multiple-choice DVSA assessment (must be passed by 31 March annually)
Next Steps
Once you’ve completed your MOT Annual Training and passed the annual assessment, remember to update your training log in MTS and retain your training and assessment records.
Update Your Training Log
Log in to your MOT Testing Service (MTS) account and update your annual training record, including the date of your training, the topics covered and the time spent completing it.
Next Training Year
MOT Annual Training is required every year. Complete the required training and pass the annual assessment by 31 March.
Keep Up to Date
Keep up to date with changes to the MOT Inspection Manuals, MOT Testing Guide and other DVSA updates throughout the year.
