Our Motorcycle MOT Training for Classes 1 & 2 leads to the Level 2 Technical Specialist in MOT Testing (Classes 1 & 2) (Award), providing the qualification, knowledge and practical skills required to progress towards becoming an authorised motorcycle MOT tester.
Designed for technicians who want to test motorcycles and mopeds, the course combines theory with practical training and assessment, helping candidates understand the standards, procedures and responsibilities involved in carrying out MOT tests in accordance with DVSA requirements.

Eligibility Requirements
To enrol on our Motorcycle MOT Training for Classes 1 & 2, candidates must meet the DVSA eligibility requirements for becoming an MOT tester.

Age
You must be at least 18 years old -
Driving Licence
You must hold a full UK driving licence for the vehicle classes you intend to test. -
Employment
You must have at least 4 years’ full-time employment servicing and repairing motorcycles or scooters. This must be practical, hands-on work rather than an administrative role. -
Good Character
You must meet the DVSA requirements relating to convictions, good repute and disciplinary history. - For full details of the requirements relating to convictions and good repute, see the DVSA MOT Testing Guide – Appendix 7: Convictions and Repute.

Course Content Overview
Our Motorcycle MOT Training provides candidates with the knowledge and practical skills needed to carry out MOT inspections on Classes 1 & 2 vehicles, while preparing them for the qualification assessments and subsequent DVSA demonstration test.
Training combines theory with practical application, helping candidates understand how MOT testing standards and procedures apply specifically to motorcycles and mopeds.
Candidates will develop their knowledge of:
- Motorcycle-specific MOT inspection procedures
- Vehicle identification and classification for Classes 1 & 2
- Using the MOT Testing Service (MTS)
- Inspection of key components including brakes, steering, suspension, lighting, tyres, wheels and vehicle structure
- MOT test procedures, documentation and recording results
- Applying the relevant MOT Inspection Manual requirements
- DVSA testing standards and safe working practices
- Preparing for the DVSA demonstration test

Complete your DVSA demonstration test to demonstrate your competence to test Classes 1 & 2 vehicles.
Start Testing
Once authorised, you can begin carrying out MOT tests on motorcycles and mopeds within the vehicle classes you’re approved to test.
Maintain
Complete your required MOT Annual Training and assessment each year to maintain your MOT tester status.
Qualifying as a motorcycle MOT tester can expand your technical skills and the services you or your Vehicle Testing Station are able to provide.
