Eligibility Requirements
The Level 4 Award is an advanced qualification for technicians progressing into the diagnosis, testing and repair of electric and hybrid vehicle systems.
Candidates must:
- Hold a relevant Level 3 Electric/Hybrid Vehicle qualification
- Have appropriate automotive technical knowledge and practical experience
- Be competent in working safely with high-voltage electric and hybrid vehicle systems
- Have a good understanding of diagnostic and fault-finding procedures
- As this qualification covers advanced diagnostic procedures, including work involving high-voltage systems, candidates must already have the underpinning knowledge and practical competence developed at Level 3 before progressing to Level 4.

This Level 4 EV training course develops the advanced knowledge and practical skills required to diagnose, test and repair complex faults within electric and hybrid vehicle systems.
The qualification includes advanced diagnostic techniques and the safe testing of high-voltage systems, including the additional precautions required when diagnostic procedures involve energised high-voltage components.

Safe working practices are a fundamental part of Level 4 EV training. The qualification reflects Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidance on working safely with electric and hybrid vehicles, including the additional controls and precautions required when working on or near high-voltage systems.
Candidates will complete practical assessments during the course, followed by a written assignment which is completed after the training.
