Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Training at Pro-Tech
As electric and hybrid vehicles become increasingly common on UK roads, technicians need the right knowledge and qualifications to work with them safely. Pro-Tech’s Electric Vehicle Training pathway allows automotive professionals to develop their skills progressively, from basic awareness of electric and hybrid technology through to advanced diagnosis, testing and repair.
Our courses combine technical knowledge with practical, hands-on learning and are delivered by experienced automotive trainers who understand how EV and hybrid systems are encountered in the real workshop environment.
Which EV training course is right for me?
Level 1 provides an introduction to electric and hybrid vehicle technology and is ideal for those who need awareness of the hazards and basic safety principles.
Level 2 develops the skills required to work safely around electric and hybrid vehicles and includes options for routine maintenance as well as specialist hazard management for emergency and recovery personnel.
Level 3 is designed for technicians carrying out more advanced work, including system repair and component replacement. We also offer specialist training for those working with heavy electric and hybrid vehicles.
Level 4 develops advanced diagnostic, testing and repair skills for experienced technicians working with complex electric and hybrid vehicle systems and components.
Why invest in Electric Vehicle Training?
As electric and hybrid vehicles become a larger part of the UK vehicle parc, workshops increasingly need technicians with the knowledge and competence to work safely around high-voltage systems. Electric Vehicle Training helps businesses prepare their teams for changing technology while giving technicians valuable skills that can support their future development.
Working on electric and hybrid vehicles requires more than traditional mechanical knowledge. Technicians need to understand the specific hazards associated with high-voltage systems, safe isolation procedures and the precautions required before carrying out maintenance, diagnosis or repair.
For employers, developing EV capability can also help ensure the workshop is prepared to support a wider range of vehicles as customer demand changes. With training available from introductory awareness through to advanced diagnosis and repair, businesses can select the level of competence appropriate to each technician’s role and responsibilities.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidance on electric and hybrid vehicles also highlights the additional skills and training required to work safely with these vehicles, with the level of competence needed depending on the type of work being carried out.
