Designed for technicians who want to become authorised MOT testers, the course provides the knowledge, practical skills and certification required to carry out MOT tests on cars and light commercial vehicles.

Course Content Overview

Level 2 Technical Specialist in MOT Testing (Classes 4 & 7) (Award)

This DVSA-approved qualification enables technicians to become authorised MOT testers for Class 4 (cars) and Class 7 (light commercial vehicles). It covers everything required to carry out safe, legal, and consistent MOT inspections.

What You’ll Learn:

  • DVSA inspection procedures and standards for Class 4 and 7
  • Use of the MOT Testing Service (MTS)
  • Pre-test checks and documentation
  • Fault identification and defect categorisation
  • Health and safety in an MOT environment

Assessment:

Online multiple-choice exam (40 questions)
Practical assessment conducting a full MOT test

Next Steps

After successfully completing your qualification, you'll need to complete a DVSA Demonstration Test before becoming authorised to carry out MOT tests.
