MOT Training Courses
Our MOT Training courses support every stage of your MOT career, from becoming a qualified MOT tester to managing an MOT testing station. We deliver specialist training for Classes 1 & 2, Classes 4 & 7 and Class 5, alongside MOT Manager Training, MOT Annual Training and technician accreditation.
Whether you’re entering the MOT industry, adding additional vehicle classes or developing your management responsibilities, our practical, expert-led MOT courses are designed to give you the knowledge and confidence to apply DVSA requirements in the real world.
Which MOT Training course do I need?
Choosing the right MOT Training course depends on the vehicles you want to test, your existing experience and whether you’re training as a tester or taking responsibility for managing an MOT testing station.
MOT Tester Training – Classes 4 & 7
For technicians who want to become qualified MOT testers for cars and light commercial vehicles. This is the most common route into MOT testing and combines theory, practical training and assessment.
MOT Tester Training – Classes 1 & 2
Designed for technicians who want to become qualified to test motorcycles and mopeds. Candidates must meet DVSA eligibility requirements before beginning their route to becoming an authorised tester.
Class 5 MOT Tester Training
For existing MOT testers who need to extend their testing capability to Class 5 vehicles, including certain private passenger vehicles with more than 12 passenger seats.
MOT Manager Training
For those responsible for managing MOT operations, including Authorised Examiner Principals (AEPs) and AE Designated Managers (AEDMs). The Level 3 qualification develops the knowledge required to manage MOT testing operations in line with DVSA requirements.
MOT Annual Training
Existing MOT testers must complete annual training and assessment each year to maintain their tester status. Pro-Tech provides structured annual training covering the current DVSA syllabus and assessment requirements.

MOT Training and DVSA Requirements
MOT testing is a regulated activity, and both MOT testers and those responsible for managing MOT testing operations must meet the requirements set by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).
Our MOT Training courses are designed around the requirements of the MOT scheme, helping candidates understand not only how to complete the qualification or training they need, but also the standards expected when working within an authorised Vehicle Testing Station.
For new MOT testers, completing the relevant qualification is one part of the process of becoming authorised to test. Candidates must also meet DVSA eligibility requirements and successfully complete a DVSA demonstration test before they can begin carrying out MOT tests.
Existing testers must continue to maintain their knowledge through annual training and assessment, while those responsible for managing MOT operations have additional responsibilities for maintaining standards, quality management and compliance within their Vehicle Testing Station.
For further information about the MOT scheme and the responsibilities of MOT testers and managers, see the DVSA MOT Testing Guide on GOV.UK.
