Eligibility Requirements

To take the IMI Light Vehicle Inspection Technician Accreditation, you must meet the following criteria:

Industry Experience
You must have at least 3 years’ full-time experience in the servicing, maintenance, and repair of light vehicles This experience must be hands-on and mechanical, not administrative or supervisor -
Technical Competence
You must be confident working independently and able to diagnose and inspect vehicles without supervision
A solid understanding of core vehicle systems (brakes, suspension, emissions, electrical systems, etc.) is essential -
Career Pathway
This accreditation is accepted by DVSA as an alternative to a Level 3 qualification for entry into MOT Tester training
